MG Review: Pacific Catch

Before M., Pacific Catch was one of those places I never really planned to eat at, but was always happy after randomly ending up there. Then during my pregnancy I worked on an awesome project during the election that was CATERED. EVERY. NIGHT. For two weeks the staff was treated to some of the best of SF's restaurants in buffet form, from sushi to burritos to Rosamunde sausages. Hmmmm, sausage... Anyway, one night we had an array of salads from Pacific Catch that I still dream about. I wasn't a picky eater while I was pregnant, but I wasn't necessarily easily satisfied. I was so smitten with their dishes (along with most of the folks I worked with) that we requested it again during our stint.

Fast forward to AB (after baby). My dreams of Pacific Catch continued, and when my in-laws arrived to meet their granddaughter we decided to give the Sunset location a visit for dinner. First, getting there is extremely easy and they are one of the few restaurants in SF that has its own parking lot, so if you're driving this is a bonus. Much larger than the Marina location, there was plenty of room at our table for four adults and a baby seat. While M. slept, we dined.

I started with the Korean sticky ribs--I know this is a seafood place but these thing are so good and they were a hit with the whole table! We also shared an order of coconut shrimp that was just so-so. Good texture but bland flavor. My in-laws both had sandwiches that they raved about--the salmon and the chipotle chicken. Hubby had the fish and chips--perfectly cooked and flaky (I tasted them just to make sure ;), and I made a meal out of their starter salad and the oysters, which I never order but LOVED. I've tried to do raw oysters and it just doesn't work for me, but lightly breaded and fried is such a treat, and theirs were fat and delish.

While the dinner didn't totally live up to my memories of those catered meals, I was completely happy. Our server was awesome, and since we are local she gave us coupons to use for free appetizers on our next visit. So sweet! If you're gluten free they have several GF items on the menu and are really willing to accommodate dietary restrictions.

Pacific Catch takes reservations but I've never seen it busy enough to need them, so if you're in the hood just drop by.
