Now that I have a baby Black Friday is pretty much out for me. I was never much of a major day-after-Thanksgiving shopper pre-baby, and when Cyber Monday became a thing I felt like someone created a shopping holiday just for me! This year I was inspired to create a Cyber Monday holiday shopping guide featuring all San Francisco-themed goodies after seeing a friend's awesome stroller blanket with a screenprint of the SF skyline. Sadly those blankets are no longer available but I was able to find several other really beautiful gifts that would make any baby (and their parents) squeal with delight. Even better, these are mostly locally made goods and from small businesses, so these purchases can support our local creative economy as well. And best of all, everything here can be ordered online, meaning no need to bundle yourself and your babe up to shop with the crowds!
Golden Gate Bridge Onesie by Dream Ecology
Dream Ecology is a San Francisco-based Etsy shop that has created some unique baby gear featuring the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Their hand-dyed onesies feature a woodcut print of the bridge , and all their color options are named after locally found natural objects, $20 for short-sleeves, $21 for long-sleeves.
San Francisco Baby! by Ward Jenkins, Chronicle Books
As an avid reader I am so excited to share my love of books with my little girl. The first thing I bought her was a book and San Francisco Baby is one of our favorites, featuring a little girl and her dad exploring the city from the Mission to the Golden Gate Bridge. Published by local publishing house Chronicle Books, $12.99.
The City Onesie by The Hard Wear Store
The Hard Wear Store in the Outer Sunset sells all manner of hardworking gear from coveralls to overalls to Dickies and Carhartts. They also have a cute selection of local-themed onesies for the kiddies. I'm partial to this The City style. Sizes 3-24 months, $24.
San Francisco Playmat by Ella Lou Ethical Chic
This "Wanderlust City" San Francisco playmat is another Etsy find that turns the city's geography into a playfully illustrated map. I can envision a million uses for it, from tummy time at home to play dates in Golden Gate Park. Made in San Francisco by Ella Lou Ethical Chic, this will provide years of use and is a really fun conversation piece for parents. $84
49 Mile Drive Prints by 3 Fish Studios
I'm absolutely in love with these prints of the city's iconic 49 mile drive signs as interpreted by 3 Fish Studios. They're great for adults (my husband immediately said he wanted one!) but wouldn't these be great as a centerpiece in a modern nursery for the born and raised in SF set? Available in sizes 8x10, 11x14 and 16x20 sizes, starting at $25.
I hope this list helps you on your shopping journey this holiday season! I'm placing orders for a few of these items and I hope you'll consider supporting the creative people who put their energies into developing these gems. And of course if you have suggestions for other San Francisco themed items please include them in the comments below with a link. Happy holidays!
